today i went in to Port Hardy for some errands and on the way back decided to stop at a spot on Hwy 30 near the lake edge where i've seen lots of old silvered logs piled up at the lake edge. the plan was to try to get down the lake edge from the road. first of course you have to find a spot on the narrow and winding Hwy 30 where you can pull over. there's a logging main (Marble Main) near the area i wanted to access so i parked on small flat area just off the logging road. this truck came along and the driver stopped to tell me i was parked in a 'bad spot'. i replied with the words "I know! It's terrible! There's no good parking around here." you have to experience this area to know just how ridiculous my reply was. the driver blinked for a bit and then pointed to a flat area i hadn't seen that was 'better' for parking. i've posted 2 more photos tonight - one of the driver and one straight on through my dusty windshield of his truck as it was going by mine - just to give a sense of how big his truck was. as for getting down to the silvered logs at the lake edge - that was a no go - just too steep a bank and too much brush between the road edge and the lake edge.
