self developed color #1 - 2010-02-16 20:14:55
| ta da! this is from my first roll of self developed color 120 mm film. why develop color film at home when it can be done inexpensively at a lab? unfortunately there are no labs in my town that will develop 120 film. i've had my eye on developing color film at home for months but needed to mail order the chemicals - and then mail order a tank and reels - and then mail order airvac tanks for the chemicals. would have been much faster if i'd made a complete list of essentials before placing the first order. finally though i had it all together and this weekend i developed the first roll. this is Kodak Ektar 100 film. the developing turned out not bad except for problems getting the film on to the stainless steel reel - darn i thought i was tough enough for those big boy reels. but not. so this photo is severely cropped and the white at the bottom left is not snow but areas of film that didn't get developer on them. this was taken the weekend before last in Columbia Falls Montana. right near the train tracks that i'll post tomorrow. |
