the night life of plants - one - 2008-03-25 18:58:36
| Last week I stayed in a place known for it's gardens. I had no time for day photos but took two rolls of 800 iso film and planned a dusk camera walk in the gardens for a series called The Night Life of Plants. I'll post 4 or 5 of these here this week. If plants (understandably) aren't your thing check back next week and there should be something else here. I've been thinking about meaning and photography. How we photograph, what we photograph and why. Why I fall so deeply in love with some images and others leave me cold. Why a lot of my photographs bore me. I don't have answers. At my first photo lesson 2 weeks ago the instructor kept using the word 'loose' in reference to my photos. I guess so. I've never been good with technical stuff. I'd like to take more care with my camera and images but I never want to stop having fun and being spontaneous with the camera. If I submitted this image to a photo contest I imagine it would hit the reject pile kind of fast but I love that you can see this is film and that my frame counter is broken and this is the beginning of the roll and I didn't advance far enough to get a whole frame here. I love that we have a ragged line and half a picture. It reminds me of how much we don't know. |
