taken after dark in california in february. handheld and it's raining. i remember being really excited when i took this image - it was one of those i have to have this moments - and it was the red curve and the wet pavement i particularly wanted. i have no idea why. downloading the image was less thrilling and i had pretty much rejected the idea of posting this one however i had it up on the computer and my husband walked by and said - oh are you going to post that one? why yes - i am - although i still have no idea why. you know after i posted yesterday's wind caves image i wished i hadn't and wanted to take it down - i don't quite know what bugs me so much about it - maybe because it feels really vague - like the wind caves aren't in a good place compositionally and there's too much room for the eye to wander around aimlessly in all that brush - and there aren't any really pleasing shapes in that image - that's a new thing for me to see - it's not just the light that's important to me - good shapes mean a lot too. anyway i put it up because it illustrated erosion and the park. back to this image - if you are wondering if i'm annoyed with that burned out area of light on the lower right - i am not. in fact i cropped the image a bit to emphasize all that white light from the parking lot lamp - i know technically the image would a better one if the burnt out part wasn't there but sometimes i like images where information is missing.
